Lansdown Park Academy is an Early Intervention Base and Pupil Referral Unit that provides specialist support for children and young people who find mainstream education challenging or who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion. The academy focuses on creating a calm, supportive environment where all pupils feel safe, valued, and able to learn effectively.
We support students across four key areas of need as outlined in the SEND Code of Practice:
Our experienced staff work collaboratively to identify individual needs through baseline assessments, observations, liaison with previous schools, and input from parents and carers. Additional specialist assessments may be undertaken with external professionals such as Educational Psychologists and Speech and Language Therapists.
We maintain strong partnerships with parents and carers, who are kept informed through daily communication and structured review meetings. Mid‑point reviews allow families, academy staff, and (where relevant) mainstream home schools to discuss progress and adjust support as needed.
Our aim is to ensure every student receives personalised support that enables them to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes. We promote inclusive practice, equality of opportunity, and a strong sense of belonging so that all students can grow and succeed.
