Two CLF leaders enjoyed continental sporting success this summer, triumphing in the European Touch Rugby Championships.
Steve Holland, Assistant Principal at Hans Price Academy, and Hannah Scott, Assistant Principal at Lansdown Park Academy, represented England at the event in Vichy, France – one of the country’s Olympic training bases.
Hannah competed for England in the Women’s 40s competition after being invited to England training camps following her selection for the South West team at the National Touch Rugby Championships in Nottingham in 2025.
Hannah said: “It was an incredible experience to represent England and to come away with a gold medal.
“Playing at a European Championship is something I’m incredibly proud of, and it was fantastic to be part of such a brilliant team. Balancing international sport with my role in education can be challenging, but experiences like this make all the hard work worthwhile. I’m really looking forward to representing England again in Japan later this year.”
Steve has represented England since 2017, after being scouted while playing for the South West at the 2016 National Championships.
The European Championships marked a particularly significant tournament for Steve. Playing in the Men’s 35s, he captained England for the first time and also celebrated reaching an impressive milestone of 50 international caps.
Steve said: “To captain England for the first time, reach 50 caps and then finish the tournament as European Champions was an incredibly special experience.
“Winning gold is the result of a huge amount of hard work from the whole team, and I’m incredibly proud to have played my part. It was a fantastic tournament and one that I’ll remember for a very long time.”
Their success on the international stage has continued with both players selected to represent England at the Asia Cup in Japan in October.
Both Hannah and Steve’s achievements highlight the dedication and commitment they bring to both their sporting and professional careers within the Cabot Learning Federation.
